Greenwood was suspended from England by the Football Association after being banned from playing football following allegations of attempted rape, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and controlling and coercive behavior three years ago . Although the charges were eventually dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service, the striker was informed that he would not be recalled to the England squad again.
Greenwood is eligible for Jamaican citizenship as his father was born in Jamaica and the player himself has only been called up to the England side once – when he was under 21.
If all goes well, Mason could join the team Steve McLaren for the World Cup qualifiers in June, the Daily Star previously reported.
