Zenit head coach Sergey Semak commented on the home victory over Rostov in the first round of the Russian championship:
Indeed, the start of the game didn’t work. We made decisions for a long time, allowed a technical mismatch, and lost too many battles. In the second half, they stood up to it. They were better, except for one moment at the end when they didn’t finish their defense.
After the first half, Zenit was trailing Rostov 0-1, but they ultimately won 2-1.
