Goalkeeper PSG Matvey Safonov In his Telegram channel, he spoke about his progress and understanding of the training process.
At a high level, the little things are important, and I think I’m adding many aspects of the game to the goal. At a level where they can use any spot, it’s very important not to give the attack an advantage.
Often, technical skills are developed during separate goalkeeper training, when a specific situation can be modeled for practicing a particular element. This is the first step in acquiring any skill, and in my case, a change to an existing one.
The second step is to transfer this movement to game drills with the team. This takes time because the required situations don’t occur often, as the goalkeeper’s behavior pattern depends on many factors. For example, the distance of the shot, the presence of pressure from the defender, the speed of movement, the direction of the ball, the corner of impact, the attacker’s first touch, and so on… (many things). And when these conditions change, the goalkeeper’s actions also change, although in the end it seems quite simple.
And the third step is to use this skill in the game, but with consistent, high-quality training, this element is brought to automaticity.
