According to the source, former Manchester United players Brian Robson, Andy Cole And Dennis Irwin announced that their salaries would be reduced.
This decision is part of cost reduction efforts initiated by Jim Ratcliffe and his company INEOS.
Robson has been United’s global ambassador since 2011 and is responsible for promoting the club across the world. Irwin and Cole play similar roles.
Many other former United players host sponsors and guests at home matches. Fees for acting as a match day ambassador can range from £500 to £1,000.
Sources close to Manchester United have refused to comment on reports regarding the club’s ambassador contracts.
