25 year old Chilean Victor Méndezwho played on loan for Krylya Sovetov, did not come to the Samara team’s training camp upon returning from vacation.
According to an insider Ivan Karpov, CSKA could have terminated the contract with Mendes, sued him, had him disqualified for six months and fined up to $1 million. The Moscow club threatened the player with these sanctions.
However, in the end CSKA decided to accept an offer from Colo-Colo for $800,000 – two installments of $400,000 for 50% rights – plus bonuses. The clubs are currently discussing the bonus part of the deal.
