Head coach of Milan Sergio Conceicao shared his opinion on the draw against Cagliari in Serie A (1:1).
I expected much more in every way. Truth be told, given the quality of the team, the first half was perhaps the worst in my 13-year coaching career.
We lacked mobility, the pace was too slow. Cagliari managed to pull away in the final third of the field; playing defensively was their plan. We were preparing for it and had to find free zones, but we didn’t understand how to do it.
The second half was better, we managed 25 shots on goal. Cagliari started to gain time and, as I understand it, this is the norm in Italy – no problem, but then the referee is forced to add more than five minutes. It’s not an excuse, nor is fatigue after the Super Cup. We should have played better, but these factors still cannot be ignored.
