In 2028, the Olympic football tournament will be held in an updated format.
International Olympic Committee Sporting Director Kit MacConnell stated that 12 teams will play 12 instead of 16 in the men’s tournament at the Los Angeles Olympics, as before.
The women’s tournament will increase from 12 to 16 teams.
The 2028 Olympics will take place from July 14 to 30.
