Spartak chose a sports director who would meet the following requirements: work experience in a large club in the system, strong character, successful interaction with an experienced and reputable coach, recruiting experience with a focus on Latin America, Europe South and the Balkans, ability to complete complex transactions and a vast network of contacts. There were five candidates on the shortlist. One of whom was the new sports director of Spartak Francis Cahigao. It was also reported that a German candidate refused to work in Russia because of the SVO. During the interview, Cahigao surprised with his knowledge RPLthe composition of Spartak and the nuances of the local market. He also appears as a calm and confident man, ready to take on a great challenge.
Cahigao will arrive in Moscow on January 6. Today, the 55-year-old civil servant is on a working trip to Europe. Cahigao has the task of laying the foundations for Spartak to finish each season in the top three, with the constant reinforcement of young Russians. In addition, the Spaniard must create such conditions for scouting work so that only players who fit the club’s playing model and are capable of progressing are included in the team.
As previously reported, Cahigao’s contract with Spartak is for 2.5 years. And a significant part of his salary will be bonuses for successful purchases/sales and player progression.
