Tottenham has decided to end its relationship with head coach Anga Potecoglu.
The specialist has been with the team since the summer of 2023. During the 2024/25 season, under his leadership, the club won the Europa League and finished 17th in the English Premier League. The London Club’s press office notes:
We are extremely grateful to Anga for his loyalty to the cause and his contribution over two years of work at the club. Anga will forever be remembered as the third coach in our history to win the European Cup, along with legendary figures Bill Nikolson and Kita Berkinshaw.
However, the board unanimously concluded that changes for the better are in the club’s best interests. After the positive start to the 2023/24 season Premier League We scored 78 points in our last 66 Premier League matches. This led to our worst finish in history last season. Sometimes, mitigating circumstances arose – injuries, then the decision to prioritize our European campaign. While winning the Europa League this season is one of the greatest moments in the club’s history, we cannot base our decision on the emotions associated with this triumph.
It is very important that we can compete on multiple fronts, and we believe that a change in approach will give us the best possible chance next season and in the future. This was one of the most difficult decisions we had to make, and we didn’t approach it frivolously or rush to conclusions. We made the right decision, which we believe will give us the best chance of success in the future.
