Former Krasnodar striker Fyodor Smolov commented on the conflict on Kofemania. The footballer recorded a video posted on his social media page, in which he said the following:
Hello everyone, this is Fyodor Smolov, and it’s time to express his opinion on what happened. First of all, I would like to apologize to those who witnessed my unacceptable behavior that morning.
Under no circumstances should you fight and throw up your hands in a civilized society. For my part, I can say that with good intentions, I tried to resolve the possible inconvenience to our company that morning, but, unfortunately, I encountered rudeness and obscene abuse. Until the last, I tried to resolve the conflict peacefully, which, in fact, was captured in this video that was posted online. From the very beginning, I wanted to contact only the victims and compensate them for the harm and moral damages I caused. But, unfortunately, this wasn’t possible because people began to appear whom I’d never seen in my life, whom I don’t know, who aren’t in this video, and who have no connection to this situation.
They began to threaten me, blackmail me, and extort money from me. They began offering strange programs that Russian law doesn’t provide for. I emphasize: for my part, from the very first day, I wanted and was ready to reconcile directly with the victim and follow the letter of the law in everything else. In this regard, I decided to write a statement to the police.
Many thanks to everyone for their words of support, and I especially want to thank my wife Karin for being by my side and supporting me emotionally, but for condemning and not encouraging my actions.
I mean, it’s completely my responsibility, and it shouldn’t be projected onto Karina.
