According to a source, the English Premier League will expand the behind-the-scenes coverage of club life.
As reported in January, teams were supposed to allow players to wear training suits during warm-ups and leave the pitch, as well as to take a break from the locker room and interview a player, head coach, or coaching staff member.
Now, representatives of the top division have agreed to go even further, allowing viewers to see how players and coaches prepare for matches.
Currently, broadcasters are only allowed access to the training ground about once a month to remove material that could be used in reports and highlight events. However, under the rule changes, each club must now provide the league with a production partner to film a 30-minute “extended training session,” during which at least one player, as well as the head coach or one of his assistants, must be connected to the audio system.
Teams will be required to provide the league with a list of five players recently included in the starting lineup, from which they can choose, and if the player agrees, they will have the option to wear a body camera. 24 hours will be allotted to approve the final installation. The sessions can also supplement clubs’ existing obligations regarding behind-the-scenes content.According to insiders, security measures will be taken to prevent the disclosure of confidential information, such as tactical planning and lineup selection.
