Manchester United defender Harry Maguire believes that the absence of the captain’s armband did not affect him.
I wouldn’t associate my uniform with that: whether I wear the captain’s armband or not, I consider myself the leader of the team. Now I have experience, I’ve been here for over five years.
I know sometimes when you play for this club there are a lot of ups and downs, and every game you lose brings attention to the players, they become targets – that’s part and parcel of the game for this team .
I look at players from the past like Wayne Rooney and David Beckham: they received a lot of attention and were world-class stars. If they have experienced this, it can happen to anyone. It’s a huge privilege and honor to play for this club and I wouldn’t trade it for anything else.
