The London club’s striker Richarlison acted differently: the Brazilian ran onto the pitch at Goodison Park, taking off his T-shirt. The player played for the Toffees from 2018 to 2022. He explained his action as follows:
I have been overcome with emotion each of the 83 times I have stepped onto that field. The place where I played and scored the most in my career. Today was the last time. Thank you, Goodison Park.
This season is Everton’s last at this stadium.
