In the 31st minute, the attacker Henri Martin moved America forward. At the 34th minute Lionel Messi evened the score. At the 53rd minute Israel Reyes again gave the advantage to “America”, and in overtime in the second half Thomas Aviles evened the score.
The match ended in a penalty shootout, where luck was on the side of Inter Miami – 3:2.
