The Confederation of African Football announced on Tuesday the postponement of the African Nations Championship to August 2025.
In Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, where the tournament was originally scheduled to take place from February 1 to 28, significant progress has been made in the construction and upgrading of stadiums, training grounds, hotels, hospitals and other infrastructure and facilities.
However, CAF technical and infrastructure experts, some of whom have worked in these countries, have told the organisation that more time is needed to ensure that infrastructure and facilities are at the required levels to host a successful competition.
The draw for the tournament will take place on January 15 in Nairobi. The exact start date of the African Nations Championship will be announced at a later date.
