Turkish club Fenerbahce will hold an event during the first match of the season in memory of fan Duigu Odininwho died of cancer at the age of 35.
A young woman once posted the following message on social media:
“Fenerbahce, when I beat cancer, maybe we’ll release footballs at the stadium?”
This message was noted and shared by many other fans of the Istanbul club. When the sad news of Duigu’s death broke, the Fenerbahce press office stated that the fan’s dream would still come true.
During the first official match of the season, the 1907 footballs will be released at the Shyukru Sarachoglu Stadium. The number was chosen in honor of the club’s year.
