In his interview, the Spaniard stated the following: “He’s not just good, he’s the best in Russia and one of the best coaches in the world. I say that because he’s my friend. I know what I’m talking about: I’ve worked in Spain, Romania, I have friends from Italy, France, and England. I know how Karpin works and what kind of head coach he is.” At Karpin’s invitation, Alba landed a job on the Rostov coaching staff in 2018.
