On June 10, a preliminary hearing on the Dubai United striker’s appeal will take place Queens Promesin which he is asking the Court of Appeal to allow him to return to the Netherlands on the terms and proposals he has made. In an interview with The Source, the footballer stated the following:
I won’t lie that I really miss the Netherlands and would like to return. People have also often said that I’m on the run, but for some time now, I’ve been trying to contact the judicial authorities to resolve this issue.
I want to respond to the Netherlands on my own and continue my career. And so that I can fly back and forth in the Netherlands, so to speak, if they call me, and then I can continue playing football. That’s what I want. As a reminder, the Amsterdam County Court found the player guilty of two criminal charges: stabbing his cousin in the knee during a family party in 2020, and drug smuggling. In the first case, he was sentenced to 1.5 years in prison, and in the second, to six years. An international arrest warrant is in force for these sentences, and the Dutchman will be arrested as soon as he arrives in the Netherlands.
During the hearings in both criminal cases, Quincy did not appear in court. Now, he says he would like to tell his story in court:
I had contractual obligations to the club (Spartak Moscow). When I found out my case was being considered in the Netherlands, I was already abroad, so it was difficult for me to make the choice and go to the Netherlands if I have contractual obligations. I can’t bite the hand that feeds me right now. I’m not like that.
In the conversation, Promes didn’t say whether he was guilty and didn’t want to answer questions:
These are important issues that I cannot comment on based on my lawyer’s advice. Ultimately, whatever the court decides, I take responsibility for it. I respect the legal system.
