In the French league, the updated automatic disqualification rule will apply starting in the 2025/26 season.
Players will now be sent off for a match after accumulating five yellow cards, regardless of the number of fights played. This innovation has been officially adopted by the governing body of the French Professional Football League (LFP). It will apply to Ligue 1, Ligue 2, the French Cup, and the Super Cup.
Previously, players received automatic disqualification if they received three yellow cards in ten official matches.
